What is a Giclee?
A giclee (pronounced Gee-Clay) is a reproduction on canvas. After Lynn paints an original it is
digitally photographed. Then in a computer the image is color adjusted so it resembles as close as possible the original. The image is then printed onto a special waterproof canvas with
pigmented ink. Finally a waterproof UV protectorate is applied over the canvas.
How is it printed? We do all our color adjusting and printing on our own printer resulting in consistent colors and resolution. We can custom
print to any size as long as it is in proportion to the original painting. This gives us total control over the quality and appearance of our giclees.
Longevity: Longevity is one of our main concerns in producing a giclee. Many people
are producing giclees using dye-based inks. Dye based inks have an extended color gamut but have a lightfastness rating of around 25 years. We use “Epson Archival Inks” with a lightfastness
rating of up to 200 years.
Made of finely milled pigments, encapsulated in acrylic resin these “Epson Archival Inks” produce a giclee that should last for generations. Lynn’s Giclees are all printed on acid free waterproof canvas. We then coat the canvas with a flexible, waterproof, non yellowing coating with state of the art UV inhibitors to give even longer life to your artwork. We feel that we are producing a state of the art product that will last for many generations to come.
Care of your Giclee:It is highly recommended that you keep any artwork (originals included) away from direct sunlight. Sunlight is the true killer of
color in artwork. A soft cloth damp with water can be used to clean your giclee of dust to keep the colors bright and clear.
