 This painting is about how the Caribbean makes me feel with its blue and turquoise sea and vivid colors makes my mouth water. I grew up loving the warmth of the sun on my skin and the provocative foliage in the tropics. There is always a possibility of adventure. This painting represents all those things to me. The purple Bouganvillea is really not the flower of the plant; the small white pedaled centers are the real flowers. The purple parts are actually the leaves. Things are not always what they seem. The showy Yellow Hibiscus is dripping with nectar. It opens only for one day. Orchids are so exotic because they grow out of practically nothing except the moist tropical air. I collect orchids in my back yard in Florida. Almost all of the orchids in my paintings are from my own collection.
